AgriStack Farmer Registry Crosses 9.20 Crore Farmer IDs

AgriStack crosses 9.20 crore Farmer IDs, bringing digital identity to agricultural welfare and service delivery. The Farmers Registry under AgriStack Digital Public Infrastructure has generated over 9.20 crore Farmer IDs as of March 19, 2026. The registry covers landholding farmers including women farmers and those in livestock and fisheries and also makes room for cultivators like tenants and sharecroppers, giving them a unified digital identity through the Farmer ID. Uttar Pradesh leads state-wise with nearly 2 crore IDs generated, followed by Maharashtra at 1.32 crore and Madhya Pradesh at 1.04 crore. Bihar has crossed 47 lakh.

What the Farmer ID unlocks

The ID is being used to connect farmers directly to welfare schemes and services: PM-KISAN, PMFBY crop insurance, MSP-based procurement, agricultural credit, input distribution and disaster relief, all through integration with the Direct Benefit Transfer system. The logic is straightforward: a verified digital identity cuts the friction between a farmer and the scheme meant for them.

A few states show what that looks like in practice. Maharashtra used AgriStack to transfer over ₹14,000 crore to 89 lakh farmers within five days as compensation for Kharif 2025 crop losses. Chhattisgarh integrated Farmer IDs and Digital Crop Surveys into MSP-based paddy procurement in a single season, covering more than 32 lakh farmers and tightening transparency around crop verification and payment timelines.

For farmers without internet access or mobile phones, the government has leaned on Farmer Producer Organisations, Krishi Sakhis and Common Service Centres to help with registration and service access. State governments are running dedicated registration camps to pull in those who might otherwise be left out.

State-wise adoption across major agricultural states: Maharashtra (1.31 crore), Uttar Pradesh (1.99 crore), Madhya Pradesh (1.04 crore), Rajasthan (83.39 lakh), Karnataka (60.76 lakh), Gujarat (60.21 lakh), Andhra Pradesh (49.33 lakh) and Telangana (44.53 lakh).

Key takeaway: With 9.20 crore Farmer IDs generated and real-world use cases already playing out in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, AgriStack is moving from infrastructure to active delivery mechanism connecting farmers to credit, insurance, procurement and relief through a single verified identity.
